Chapter 27: What Kelsey Had Saved

Kelsey agreed to provide a sworn account of the events surrounding the vandalism.
She described the meeting at Denise’s kitchen table and identified who had been present.
Her original recording included Marcus opening a laptop folder containing customer names and photographs.
It also showed Denise reading an electronic agreement before placing her initials beside a payment schedule.
The recording did not show every page of the agreement.
Investigators matched visible details to a copy recovered from company records.
The agreement described Denise as an active marketing partner responsible for acquiring customers through confidential referral methods.

One section established a performance bonus when clients purchased certain subscription plans.
Another section required partners to follow applicable privacy laws.
That clause did not erase the questionable conduct documented elsewhere.
Kelsey explained why she had filmed the meeting.
Tyler wanted to produce a short video about launching a company with wealthy backers.
He had expected Marcus to make him famous for his business instincts.
When the adults discussed the plan to embarrass me, Tyler kept asking whether his video would attract attention.
Kelsey did not understand the stolen-information scheme at the time.
She did understand the planned vandalism.
Her testimony carried that uncomfortable admission without an excuse.

“I should have refused to film it,” she said.
“I didn’t, and I’m responsible for that choice.”
Her willingness to acknowledge her own mistake made the rest of her account more credible to me.

Chapter 28: The Courier’s Route

Mateo’s delivery records established that he had arrived on our street before Tyler approached the Lamborghini.
He had parked opposite Denise’s driveway because another vehicle blocked the delivery area.
The van’s dashcam continued running while he tried to obtain a signature.
His body camera, used by his delivery company for disputed handoffs, recorded the transfer of the boxes from a different angle.

Investigators compared those recordings with neighborhood security footage.
Together, the videos established the order of events.
Marcus brought the boxes into Denise’s garage.
Tyler entered the garage carrying an empty paint can.
Denise handed Tyler a pair of disposable gloves.
Marcus emerged and pointed toward my driveway.
Tyler returned minutes later carrying a full can.
The recordings could not capture every word said inside the garage.
They did show that Denise had not simply discovered her son’s misconduct after it happened.
When that sequence was presented in a later proceeding, Denise stared at the table rather than at the screen.

I remembered her first words beside the car.
She had accused me of creating the scene for attention.
Now the video showed her helping prepare it.
The truth had not been hidden in a mysterious secret message.
It had been visible in the quiet minutes before the performance began.
